Spotify Integration - with standard lightning cable

I have been reading posts in the forums after I noticed that using the spotify App often led to crashes. I connect via the USB port in the console using my standard lightning cable with my iPhone 6. I use the 'BMW Connected' App and launch Spotify. It's nice to be able to see my library(so songs, playlists, etc). It works for a while, but often locks up. Sometimes it even crashes the entire system and it reboots. I upgraded to the latest software version. Do I need one of those 'official BMW' cables? I know I can use the bluetooth, and that works, but I can't browse my music, see the album art, etc. I have a 2013 X3.

Have you been doing the software updates that you download from BMW, put on a USB and install yourself? Those "telephone/media" once have helped with this.

What CESIUM said!
Spotify works like a charm in my X4. It's sad though that you can't perform a "Spotify Search" from the iDrive. Probably due to safety..?

I did do the update. It works intermittently still. Still locks up and crashes sometimes.

Are you using an OEM Apple Lightning cable? I've noticed that using any 3rd party lightning cable messes it up
