Furniture bumper strips
This is what worked for me on my 2016 X3 as shown in the pictures - I used a soft velcro strip on one side cause I had trouble getting the furniture bumper to stick on that side. Hated that rattle - thanks!!!

Didn't know where that sound was coming from until I saw this thread, thought it was rear part of roof headliner. Bought some furniture bumpers and placed them on the little arm levers (thanks @Ibjgh) this noise is gone!

noise gone - but is this normal?
I have only recently managed to sort out the noise on my panoramic roof, as suggested by someone in here. I basically used the soft close bumpers, the tiny ones you normally use for doors and things like that.
I have applied them as it can be seen in picture, 4 of them, and the noise is gone, which is excellent. My only concern now is (as I can't remember if it was like that before) if the fact that the edge of the moving part is normal to be slightly raised, like it can bee sen in the photo? I'm obviously worried that the trick with the bumpers might have raised the roof and potentially created a gap that might let water in |

ESD08 you have some bonus silicone bumpers installed.
The only places you need the bumpers are on the two small plastic tabs shown in the bottom circled image. ...and the silicone bumper should be on top of the tab. I can't tell from your picture but it looks like you have the bumper beside the tab. Remove the rest. The bumpers don't exert enough force to cause the pano roof to be adjar they just push the interior plastic panel down a bit.

So grateful to have found this forum. Recently purchased a 2016 X3 / F25 and had the same issue. Put tiny felt pads in place as directed and the noise is gone. Thanks very much!

I fixed that creek however the plastic trim between the front and rear section creeks when it's cold if shade is open. Stops if shade is closed or if you pull down on that trim. Anybody fix this?
