BMW OEM Leather Care Kit
Has anyone used the original BMW Leather Care Kit? Is it any better than the Lexol, which I've heard so much about?
Trying to see which one to buy. http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/bmwcarcare.html |

Never used BMW car care products. Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner is so good probably would not switch. The Lexol products after finish is great - not shiny, no offensive scent and the Lexol cleaner is the best for steering wheels keeping the tacky new feel.

Most "branded" care products are just re-branded commercially available products. For example, Mercedes Benz products are made by Meguires. Not sure who makes the BMW branded products.
You are also likely to pay a little more for the BMW brand. I'm sure they are good, but likely no better than other "good" brands.

My seats are still brand new, only the driver's seat has seen wear. What can I get now to protect it for the long term, as it doesn't need "cleaning"? Preferably Lexol.
I mean, do I need to do anything to the seats? I bought the car in April. |

Nope, just light cleaning periodically to keep the leather soil-free and moist. The latter is important, so you should do all the leather surfaces from time to time to keep them moisturized and protected.
My philosophy is: It's easier to keep things clean than it is to get things clean.

Leather Honey is amazing if your leather is dried out. I used it on my couches and it made the like new. It gives a tacky feel, none of that slippery gloss you get from armor all. Very little required, lasts a long time. It's probably not necessary for new leather.

Looks ike a lot of folks have used Leatherique to restore leather, but not sure how early this can be applied. I just picked up my x3 a week ago and haven't applied anything yet to protect the leather

I've used the Zaino stuff with good results. Not shiny and a pleasant, appropriate smell -- smells like leather, not lemons or something.

Protecting it (cleaning and conditioning) is part of the leather maintenance, and that would let me enjoying my leather seat longer. I know I would not enjoy it to get into my car and welcomed with cracked, worn down leather seats.. but thats just me
