Black Kidney Grilles?

So, I know I've seen people with custom painted black grills, but I was hoping BMW Performance would come out with a set for the F25. Anyone know if any of the aftermarket companies already have a set available?

I think they are black on the 20d as standard, but my guess is that there will be some proper blacked out grills available either by BMW or aftermarket soon. The X3 is still quite new and my guess is that autumn/winter will see some more accessories being put out.

The best tip would be to paint your current grill.

Have been looking for black grilles myself. No luck yet. What type of paint would adhere to the stock grille?

Could not find the post, but I distinctly remember someone on this forum covered the vertical grill ribs using black vinyl striping tape and it really looked sharp. Probably will hold up better than paint. Another (more durable) option would be to send it out for a powder coat finish, which also generally holds up much better than paint.

Or just buy a 20d grill replacement. or trade with somebody in Europe who wants a shiny grill.

Black grills...

TN3, I changed the black grills on my wife's X3 2.0d for the silver ones, the black ones are now lying around (perfect condition) looking for a new home!

I'm in Ireland but I would be very willing to mail these to you free of charge in return for a donation from you to a charity in the US equivalent to the postage cost. You can choose the charity! Postage should be relatively inexpensive, they are bulky but light. Let me know if you are interested and we can set this in motion.

By the way the black grills have chrome surrounds as you probably know.

Hey, thanks for the offer! But I was more intersted in something like the BMW Performance grills, which are gloss black, to match the shadowline trim on the M-Sport. Plus, they are all black. Hopefully BMW will release them soon!
