How do you know if the X3 plays DVD's or not?

Have you got profesional media ... If so it will play them

I don't know if I have professional media or business nab. How would I know?

If you have the wide screen which fills the dash space ... You have pro nav .. This includes the DVD player

If you have the small screen .. With blanks either side, that is business nav which doesn't have a DVD player

Yes, I have both My BMW Remote and BMW Connected working on my Android.
Remote is paid service I believe. There is lag when sending instruction over to my car.

I can locate my car from the App as well.

I have Connected and Remote on Android. Remote is a bit "meh" ... not too keen on the idea of my phone being used to lock and unlock the car and the other functions don't seem that useful. Maybe starting the aircon remotely on the 3 sunny days a year we get in the UK will change my mind.

Connected is great ... when it works. I've posted elsewhere that it gave me full media control of my Samsung S5 through the Audioplayer app - looks exactly like having an iPhone or iPod connected on USB. Stupidly I upgraded the S5 to Lollipop and it's stopped working - everything looks OK but no audio can be heard. So, I'm back to using an iPod on the car's USB port.

One app within Connected that I do still use is the Calendar function - it's really useful to be able to view my phone's calendar on the car's display. It pulls in details from both MS Exchange (work) and Google (personal).

There's also Facebook integration which is usable but the idea of trying to read it on the move (which it allows) fills me with horror. I already see far too many tards driving with smartphone glows on their faces as they post their latest status to Twitter or Facebook whilst driving at 70+ mph. "Just about to crash into truck cuz I'm not concentrating. LOL."

Yes but sometimes turning the steering to turn on a bit clumsy, found our the paddle shifter way by mistake

Haven't played with it yet. Does Connect cost money since it uses the internet?

Does it actually turn the a/c on ?

In my current car it "vents" the car and blows air in .. Which helps a little but it doesn't fire up the A/c compressor

That may well be what it does ... it hasn't really been the sort of weather to contemplate further cooling the inside of the car and I've deleted the app from my phone (because of the locking thing).

My 2001 530i has the vent feature. It just blows in air from the fan.
