You'll probably do better with a bare bones order. All the complex electronics just adds potential headache.

The question is still valid even if it's free, unless they offered you full house at no additional cost. I've seen the HUD in an M5 and it seemed pretty cool, just not sure it's worth it when you have to pay for it. Has anyone here paid for it?

I have it on my X3 M Sport. I love it. It keeps my eyes on the road. Displayed is the current speed and directions if you are using the nav. I wish it was customizable to add other data such as RPM or fuel level.

FWIW I like it.

I'm happy with this situation because it worked out for the best but now I must wait for an inordinate number of weeks. They keep saying three, but I know it will be seven or eight. I'm happy I'm not waiting in Europe. My heart goes out to you guys.

The problem with the HUD (imo) is that it does not work in the daytime if you wear polarised sunglasses (a must in a country with bright sunshine like ours) and at night time I couldn't get it to dim down enough not to be distracting (without turnign it off)

This was in an X5 loaner BTW, but I imagine it is a straight parts swap with the X3. Why woudl they design two systems.

Dealer says car should be here by mid-month. I expect the end of the month but I've already done this before.

I WANT MY CAR NOW

Hang in there. Blows now, but six months from now it'll be ancient history. Not that I envy your situation, I don't at all.
