Msport vs regular

Can you get a sport steering wheel without the m sport?

Also, is the gray rear bumper a similar gray?

Greetings--I'm new here, this is my first post, as I'm planning on ordering my X3 35i tomorrow-- (Mineral Silver, Sand Beige, Sienna Wood, Premium and Technology Packages).

But, your post gives me pause as I don't want to miss out on an upgraded Navigation System by a matter of days. I could wait a couple of weeks before I give Spartansburg the go-ahead...

Can you please elaborate on when this upgrade will be implemented? Did you mean August, 2013, or August 13th, 2013?

Do you have any links or further info?

Greatly appreciated, and glad I found this forum.

Sadly, there are no rumors of it happening. Very disappointing how unloved the X3 is by the enthusiast/aftermarket community. Such a shame that no one created a near X3M like package.

Sorry was on vacation so I'm just getting to this. I mean August 2013 production. No I don't have any links to it. Here are some of the upgrades:

•iSpeech: Prompts for common commands and ability to use Google via iSpeech.
•Siri Eyes-Free: Use steering wheel voice activation button to use Siri (depending on phone)
•Bluetooth audio: iPod control over Bluetooth and switch between Bluetooth and USB without reconfiguring Bluetooth.

Additional updates include:

Navigation:
•Address input format: Customers can now enter an address in the standard US format.
•Avoid areas: Ability to specify areas that the should be avoided due to a wide variety of reasons.
•Traffic icons: Improvements to traffic list icons.

Media:
•SiriusXM: Channel logos are now available
•Volume indicator: Displays volume level when adjusting volumes.

ConnectedDrive:
•BMW Online: Splitscreen availability.
•Automatic time setting: Uses BMW Online to automatically adjust clock settings.

Voice activation:
•iSpeech prompts: Visual prompts after iSpeech activation to provide customers with common commands.

Great--thanks for the response. Hope you had a nice vacation.

I got my "estimated build date" the other day of August 5th--so hopefully I'm covered. Some of those upgrades actually seem useful.

Now, if I can just figure out how to follow my build online....

Yeah you will be fine. It's pretty simple to do. Have you logged into my BMW on bmwusa.com? Just put in the production number under add vehicle tab

Thanks--I got it. Don't know why i didn't find the right link at first--maybe I had to be registered for awhile before all options were available.

Given the number of folks who build their X3 with M-Sport, I too don't understand why BMW doesn't see this as an oppportunity. There IS a X5M - NOW TELL ME THE SENSE OF THAT DECISION?????

I had an E90 330d for six years and we now have the 3.0d M-Sport. I can honestly say that there is a difference, but not as much as you would think. You do notice the extra height and the car does not feel as nimble, but it really does grip and the four wheel drive does make a hell of a difference round bends especially in sport +. The engine is sweet and smooth and extremely powerful, you do notice the extra torque that the petrol engines cannot match and the auto is a dream - so if you want effortless performance it ticks all the boxes. The paint though is very thin compared to the non water based paint I am used to. The E90 was like a tank and although the X3 is very solid and well built, you do notice the reduction in weight - although I must admit, I feel safer in this car because of the height.

The biggest difference to me is the electric steering (disappointing on the X3) and the way the E90 seems to break when you let off the gas. The X3 coasts much more freely when you let off the gas, the E90 slows quickly. Not sure yet which I prefer. I feel like I'm wasting gas when the E90 doesn't roll as far.

Although it has less feel than a hydraulic system, the steering in an F25 with DHP in Sport or Sport+ is actually quite decent IMO.

Have you replaced the grill yet?

If so, where did you get it and how much was it? I think I'll be doing the same thing. About to order mine in the next week or so. After 2 years waiting, I'm finally ready to pull the trigger.

I did the same thing - went from an E90 335i to an X3 35i with M sport.

I think that the X3 in this configuration is really underestimated as a performance vehicle, it feels amazing with these options to drive. (Dynamic Handling Package, etc)

You do sit higher up and feel the weight a little bit more, but the for me has been much more fun to drive than my 335i.

Why so? Here are my reasons:

1.) 8 speed auto is super fast and exciting to drive
2.) N55 has a really cool burble and pop on the upshift than my N54 didn't
3.) Sport and Sport+ really sharpen the car up, and makes it more exciting than my 335i with sport suspension.
4.) Heads up display - makes me feel like a baby X5M!

I did! I actually just replaced it yesterday haha love it! I just ended up getting them from getbmwparts.com (Tischer). They really tie the car together nicely with the rest of the M-Sport package's shadowline trim. I try posting a pic later!
