New Frontier and a new Z, if they can keep the prices down, they should both sell well. The Z looks very very similar to the old 240Z's, and if it has manual, with any version of VR30DDTT, I would be interested. Not enought to get rid of my M2, but still.

Interesting...so long as they don't pair it with a CVT!

Will it also be powered by a I6 3.0L turbo BMW motor?

I kid, I kid.

Better picture but in a strange color:

I want to have faith in Nissan, but I don't. They will somehow screw up the new Z for sure.

Very cool to see the Z return!

JDM is making comeback with some exciting models in a long time - Supra, new Z, TLX typeS, RWD Mazda 6, and hopefully new RX7.

Interesting how this will pan out. The BRZ/FRS sales fizzled out within 2 years.
Two-seater, coupe sports cars aren't big money makers.

And with kids not wanting to even get a drivers license (my daughter's 19, over half of her friends can't drive)... gonna be a rough a decade for sports car sales, let alone car sales.

I've seen what they did with the Maxima's concept and final product. Not getting my hopes up until the Z's debut.

They are not made to make $$$ but create marketing and excitement for the brand! There are residual benefits on sales of other models and brand recognition.

Do these kids go to school or have a job? If so, how do they get there. Taking Uber everytime is very costly.

Like others have said, I have little faith in the 370Z successor, Nissan will definitely screw it up, just look at how badly they f***** over Infiniti with the Q50/60 replacements for the G37.

It's probably powered by a normally aspirated 1.6L from a Renault Fuego

I'm really happy to see a new Z. Competition is good and hopefully will make BMW/Toyota up the game.

Nissan Has A Chance To Succeed Where The 2020 Toyota Supra Failed

Nissan Has A Chance To Succeed Where The 2020 Toyota Supra Failed

In a video released today, Nissan finally announced the replacement for the more-than-a-decade-old 370Z sports car. While the video leaves a lot to the imagination, reports over the past couple of months suggest it’ll be a massive step in the right direction. Most importantly, this is Nissan’s chance to succeed where Toyota failed with the 2020 Supra.

Nissan’s coupe ran relatively unopposed for 11 years, until the 2020 Toyota Supra came along, but by then, the Nissan was ancient news. Surprisingly, the new Supra didn’t completely outshine the 370Z on paper.

Despite being so old, the Nissan actually put up a decent fight with power output and a curb weight similar to the 2020 Supra. The Toyota Supra does benefit from a pair of turbos, which help lower its 0-60 mph sprint time, but, crucially, the 370Z comes with a six-speed manual transmission. A point of contention with Supra fans who can only shift gears using a seven-speed automatic.

The Nissan makes do with 350 hp from a 3.5-liter V6 and weighs 3,333 lbs in its top trim. The 2020 Supra claims 335 hp from a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter inline-six and tips the scales at 3,397 lbs by comparison. While it’s true the 2021 Supra received more power at 382 hp, it’s still difficult to justify the $50,000 cost versus the Nissan 370 Z’s base price of $30,000.

According to the reports, Nissan will borrow the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Infiniti Q60, which is good for 400 horsepower. That’s one point for Nissan. Judging by what little of the new car can be seen in the video, hints of 240Z are still obvious. And as long as Nissan stays more faithful to a retro-inspired look than Toyota did, it should get nod for design as well. Rumors circulating also hint at the new car taking the name 400Z as aopposed to reviving the 300ZX moninclature.

Where Nissan can really win favor is in the transmission and price tag departments. A manual transmission goes a long way with the sports car segment. It’s an increasingly rare sight, but Toyota caught tons of flack for not offering one on the Supra. Nissan can gain a lot of favor by making it an option for potential buyers.

The current price of the 2020 Nissan 370Z makes it a legitimate affordable alternative to the Supra. If Nissan can keep the price of its new Z car below the $40,000 mark, use the old model as a baseline, while benchmarking against the Supra, it has a chance to show Toyota everything it did wrong with one of the most hyped cars of the year.

looks like it has a chance. But then again Toyota got our hopes up with the FT1 before ruining the car.

Manual. Near 3000 pounds. Revived/modernized SR20DET motor with 8k redline. Count me in. A higher end model with a detuned GTR/Q60/VR-series + RWD to take on the supra would be nice too.

Biggest question will be is it auto only? Or will they do the right thing and offer a manual *cough* BMW and Toyota *cough*

If the rumors of 400hp, MT, and a $40k price is true for the new Z I think Toyota needs to go back to the drawing board ASAP.

1. Cancel plans for the $43k 2.0 Supra.
2. Take the base 3.0 and take off some of the goodies and price it around $45k.
3. Kind of obvious, but manual...

I wonder if they will use the variable compression 2.0T motor as the base motor? The top trim will likely get the VR from the Q50/60 RedSport lineup, which would be super cool.

Also, sort of a tangent, but no has mentioned just HOW many freaking vehicles are in that video. 12 total, a new Z, new Frontier, the Titan is seemingly replaced by the Navara (although it looks to be the same size as the Frontier), that's 3 all new models.

The Kicks (pre-existing SUV) and the Armada (also pre-existing) are shown, but they have added in SEVEN freaking SUV's between those 2. The former is very small, and latter is very large, but how the actual f*** did they manage to make 7 sizes between them. I really hope this is more of a case study thing where they are gauging buyer interest and don't actually plan on bringing NINE total SUV's into production. For a company that isn't doing well financially, it seems like a massive waste of money to make that many new SUV's.
