2022 X3 Break Pads

Can't take the break dust on my wife's X3 and looking at replacing the pads with something that lets off less dust. I have no idea what is a good quality break pad to go with does anyone have any suggestions?

Akebono pads are popular as they are known to have very low dust generation. Check for availability. Pads made with ceramic surface will be low dust.

It's not a rule exactly but - pads that tend to stop better when cold (i.e. driving around town) tend to dust more as the material comes off. Pads that stop better when hot (i.e. track days) tend to dust less.

If you swap pads, do some research first, they aren't all the same except for one has more or less dust than another. You will also get other properties changing as well. Might not be what you want.

Wheel cleaners are cheap...

I run the akebonos and they feel like they stop better than OEM and produce much less dust. I don't mind the dust myself but it's nice I guess. But I will note since it says you're in IL, they are just near-useless in the winter until they warm up. First few stops I'd make in MI winter I made sure there was plenty of room until I could feel them biting more.

You seemed to have a 2022 X3. If this is the case you are indeed in the wrong forum.

If you still wish to go forward with aftermarket parts, anything related to brakes that may fall under warranty will be void as BMW will blame your parts for it.

Some swear by the Akebono pads but there is no free lunch, The initial bite is not the same as the OE part and under some circumstances, there may be more noise generation.

Stick with the brake dust until you are no longer covered by their warranty.
