EGR cooler internal leak- leads to premature(80,000km) DPF failure?

Thoughts and Opinions welcomed. :-)

Scenario: EGR cooler has an internal leak that lead to cooling fluid mixing with engine soot deposits. Given the high temp in the EGR modules smouldering particles contacted the intake manifold and caused some melting. Parts were replaced and right after repair (couple of days-200km of driving engine light on and diagnosed as DPF issue)

Given the leak was likely happening over time the cooling fluid leaking into the exhaust system would have altered the ash composition that feeds into the DPF.

Thoughts? Am I missing anything?
