F25 Tailgate Issue

Hey guys,

I have an issue with my electronic tailgate where the trunk lid would come back down after opening all the way. It feels like it goes all the way up and then it comes down ever so slightly because it doesn't have enough strength to hold it in the highest position.

I've tried to reinitialize the tailgate module and that was no help.

Is it time for new shocks?

yes, time for new shocks.

Yeah, I’d say new shocks would be your best start before looking at replacing the module

Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket ones?
The original ones are costly!

Ordered new shocks for the power tailgate... expensive... oh well.

Bought new shocks for the X3. Got them from RockAuto, the Stabilus are a good deal right now and probably better than the Chinese ones.

All is fixed, the trunk closes so much smoother and opens quicker.

Any chance you can share a link to what you purchased? I believe mine are starting to slow down as well
