Disabling double pull lock on doors?

Does anyone know how to get rid of the double pull locks on the car? It drives me nuts that I have to pull twice to be able to get out...

You probably have the auto lock set to activate in the idrive system. Turn that off, and use the car unlocked. Now you won't need to double pull the handle.

That is the only fix. The other method would be to use the central unlock button first - but that is more of an extra step that the double pull.

But really... it's not that annoying (to me anyway). Been doing it in Bimmers for 6 years now...

I have found that given a little time that I ave gotten use to the double pull. Maybe you should just give it some time!

I you hit the unlock button first, then it's a single pull. I expect you know that and are trying to get to a one step process, but just in case . . .

You will probably get used to it (it took me 6 months), but it may be a problem for passengers who are not used to it. The other day I had a business associate in the car who nearly freaked out thinking the door had malfunctioned and she was locked in!

In my previous E60 I had passengers almost rip the handles off as they keep tugging on it to get out, rather than ask they just kept pulling

Same on my previous 3 and 5 series, can't speak for every BMW but suspect it is so

You should be able to change this to unlock through the idrive settings.

It will automatically unlock all doors if there is a collision. Best solution for you would be to smash the car into the side of the garage every day when you get home. Presto - the doors will unlock.

As another poster said - "Security".

Seriously... is it that inconvinient to unlock a door? Have to pull the handle twice, or use central locking... my God, what a chore!

Heck, if that’s jumped to the top of the complaint list…BMW’s doing pretty good.

yeah that'd be cool. has anyone found a way?
I don't really understand the security bit, when do I need to stop the car but it's too dangerous to unlock?

My Lexus unlocks the doors when placed in Park. This makes good sense to me, especially at the valet when someone tries to open the door for you from outside. If you don't feel safe, don't put it in Park. One of a few clever things I will miss when my X3 comes. Oh well.

That's probably all you'll miss about the Lexus....

BTW, like your color combo on your coming X3.
