battery charging?
My ctek battery tester indicates a weak/bad battery. Does anyone know if I should recharge directly to the battery in the trunk or from the hood's terminal post?
Also, if battery is bad and can no longer hold a charge, any thoughts on duralast or interstate battery H8? thanks |

If you're still in the warranty period, your dealer should replace the battery for $0.
Confirm that the CTEK connection via the posts in the engine compartment is correct. I use a CTEK fairly often, just to maintain the battery when the car is idle for days at a time. I think that the BMW supplied battery is a pretty good one. You may have just been unlucky. |

I did check the connections and made sure it registered on the ctek. Tested both at the terminal post and directly at the battery. Only have 6 months before warranty is up, but my understanding is BMW does not consider a battery under warranty but as maintenance to recharge.

If it's a defective battery, they should replace it. A good dealer will do this and check the charging system for you at no cost. A somewhat less than good dealer may want to pro-rate it based on the battery warranty. A bad dealer will charge you for a new battery.

Ctek battery charger
Did you do a permanent connection with confort cable to charge your battery ? I'm looking for an easy solution to hook a ctek charger to the charging post in the hood of my x3 but don't know if the ctek cable will fits ? They seem to have 3 options on their web site :
Choose M6 for smaller batteries like motorcycle/lawn tractor. Choose M8 for top post batteries. Choose M10 for side post batteries. Someone has already hook one of these ? Also did you use 'cold mode' type charging ? Seems to be best for agm batery but not so clear since not all battery vendor listed ? Thank you ! |
