My local dealership informed me that they expect a new model design for the X3
In 2017. BMW apparently do a full model work-up every 7 years.

Any other information on this issue

That's a difficult one isn't it - as the X4 has only just been introduced, you'd normally expect the LCI version in late 2017/early 2018 but, as it's so closely related to the X3, perhaps this version will have a shorter life...

Curious to see what they do due to late intro, X6 took 7 years. but keeping mine 2 years irregardless

Thanks for the link. One of the articles says it will have redesigned seats. I hope it gets something like the comfort seats from the X5. There will also be a real X3 M. This is going to be good, I can't wait.

X4 will also be replaced with the G01 platform a year after the X3. The F26 was designed to have a short shelf life; there are a variety of posts from confirmed sources on the topic.

That's good to hear hope Bimmer improve interior materials to 5 series level or Macan it is with Porsche changing to Audi MMI system, not as good as idrive but better than Porsche current ancient PCM.

I thought Audi had partnered up with Nvidia to do some truly creative and customisable UI stuff? MMI is truly dreadful - I'm back in an Audi at the mo and had forgotten just how bad it is. It's engineered rather than designed - the "hard buttons" for Nav, Phone, Radio, CD etc are just too limiting. At least iDrive has a hierarchical menu structure which makes sense and has soft buttons for favourites.

No matter how good a drive the Macan is and how comfortable the seats are, I could never drive something so darn ugly. Every time I see one it reminds me of a pissed-up frog. Even the new style looks like a VW Scirocco that's eaten too many pies.

Lol on Macan looks one of the reasons I chose the X4 over it. But lately It's actually began to grow on me. However the Porsche PCM is worse than MMI, if Audi redesigning MMI that's good news, you don't realize how idrive spoils you until you experience the competition. Bimmer just need better seats and material in NEXT gen X3/4 and won't move, the competition is really upping their game and the ultimate driving machine is being beat also in driving dynamics, before The Macan, X3 was king!
