That's not the way to 'avoid' damage to your BMW.
That guy/gal is likely to find the car keyed! Park in the farthest corner of the lot (ya got bonus exercise), avoid down grades where carts can roll into your car, never take a 'pull through' parking spot (i.e. leave the pull through for people who don't know how to reverse their vehicle). Some of my defensive parking 101.
