2017 X3 | Adaptive LED headlights question

Howdy, friends!

I just ordered myself a 2017 X3 xDrive28i with all the trimmings, and among those trimmings are the Adaptive LED Headlights (Option Code 552,) and the Automatic High Beams (Option Code 5AC.) I saw this video:

detailing the Adaptive Headlights, and I seem to recall reading somewhere that the US system isn't quite as robust, and is unable to "tunnel" the headlights around other cars and re-angle them, as demonstrated in the video.

I showed the video to my salesman, and he believes that the system is the same, but he's not quite sure. So, I just wanted to double-check with the knowledgable people here at XBimmers! Is the US system able to "tunnel" the headlights around other cars, as seen in the video?

Thank you so much!

From reading around about this before I placed my order for our new one with Adaptive LEDs, I understand that the feature is factory-disabled for the US market but can easily be re-enabled with a bit of simple coding

Yes. It is disabled in the US, but same hardware and software so it can be re-enabled by coding.

I do it to all my cars so I can do it for yours as well if interested in utilizing full potential of system.

Love the LEDs on the X3; there's no substitute. Euro spec the headlights for max performance.

Glad to hear that they're amazing! By "Euro spec," do you mean code them to add the anti-dazzle features as seen in the video above?

Yes. There is speed and steering based Variable light distribution of the low beams and Camera based tunneling or anti-dazzle of high beams.

shame you guys don't have it enabled as standard (when ordered). I have it, and works perfectly in the UK.

Agreed, but easy enough to code.

EU spec. headlights are banned in the US - for once something EU did not screw up. You can't expect BMW/dealer to cheat.

When I was speccing my next X3 I found it very difficult to find information / video on the LED lights other than the BMW info posted on this thread. The only other video I have found is this one

Other than the obvious advantages of LED lights I just love the indicators they really do transform the front of the car hence why I bit the bullet and ticked them on the options list

I would love to enable this on my 15 X3. Anyone near Virginia that could help me out with coding to unlock this feature? Thanks!
