Angry Canadians: Speak to this!

Its getting on my nerves how we have to pay so much more than our neighbours down south. I keep reading comments that are like 500 over invoice ect..(1st of all i dont even know what over invoice means someone explain?)

It seems like they are paying less than 50g in totoal? But My "totoal deffered balance" is 78,000! Almost 80grand is a huge difference from what I am reading on this thread, is this true for the rest of you Canadians out there?

Invoice is the price the dealer pays for the car from the manufacturer (although with "holdbacks" that is debatable). So the less you pay over invoice the better deal you feel you got.

Try www.carcostcanada.com and pay the $40 to get the invoice pricing. Print out, take to dealer, tell them you will pay $500 over that amount.

Edmunds.com, has a true market value (TMV) feature, which shows you what people are actually paying for a certain car in your area based on sales figures. It also gives you the invoice pricing for comparison. The X3 TMV prices are "estimates" because it does not have enough sales data, but what I ended up ordering the car for was just below its estimate, so even that is pretty good.

I've heard of ZAG before but do not have any experience with it. Try the Costco discount and ask your dealer for the actual price list. Any dealer who participates in the Costco program will has a large list for every car including different engine configurations that shows the price you have to pay above the invoice for the car

Kalopop,

Your calculations seem to be wrong.

Your car is costing you 63,000 + 7,500 HST = 70,500. If you owe $3,000 on delivery, which is your downpayment (plus admin fees, etc), then you really owe another 67,500 on the car, which would be financed or paid in cash. You don't add your due on delivery to the total price..

2006 330i  [0.00]
That's kinda ridiculous. When I bought my 330i in 2006 I went with all the packages and ended up paying about $61k for it. The options are always over priced and they make pretty decent margins on those. Not to mention the fact that, in hindsight, I didn't need most of them.

I was a bit more strategic this time with minimal options on a xDrive28i. They ended up giving me $1800 off sticker.

BMW privacy glass is lightly smoked glass rather than a full on tint

Yes, just got mine delivered (Montreal). All windows are tinted, including the front side windows.

The dealer's tint is a film that they add that makes it darker. I've always driven tinted window cars, and I like my windows as dark as possible, so I'll be going back to get that done.

Easy: Your car has every single option. Go to BMW.ca, "build your own". With every single option, price is $63,400. Add ~$2000 "prep" = $65,400. With 14% sales tax, it becomes $74,556.

The rest might be other stuff you bought: nicer tires, extended warranties, window tint, etc.
