Exclamation X3 3.0D MSport Auto Fuel Economy

Ok been onto BMW regarding fuel economy on my car as the absolute best i can get on a good run with sensible driving is 28.4 mpg and it has been down as bad as 21mpg. So what are you achieving on your 3.0 diesel auto box. I also have 19" rims if this affects economy at all. So let me know what size rims and mpg
Cheers

Running stock 17inch rims on Pirelli Scorpions. Cruise at 13km/l on highway and about 10.5km/l on average in town. ie considerably better than what you are getting. ECU has also been remapped but that made no difference - unless I drive it hard then maybe <7.7km/l but that is having fun - tyre squirming type fun.

Hi, just joined today. I have nearly 6k on the clock and I'm getting 29.9 mpg average on 19 inch staggered run flats. Superb fun drive though!

I live in the North Wales hills, and I always suffer with mpg. I had a manual freelander that was supposed to do 37 mpg and I got 31mpg. I have a new RR sport that is doing 25.6mpg and is quoted at 31mpg. My old RR sport with a 3.6 diesel (best engine for me) and did 24 mpg against a quoted 27mpg.

Have you had your PCV valve inspected/ replaced?
They are renouned for causing excessive smoking/ over fuelling.

Did you ever sort your mpg?

If not, have you any idea what your ECT (engine coolant temperature) is running at? The M47/57 engines suffer with failing thermostats, the EGR one in particular. This can result in poor mpg.

Ecotune in Scotland. Stan at ecotune is the MAN when it comes to DPF delete. He offers a Kit where you get the DPF delete pipe, hand held programmer and 2 different maps included in the price so you basically can do it yourself if you have access to a ramp without having to travel all the way to scotland. If you search ecotune on google loads of info on their website and Stan will gladly answer any questions on the phone at any time. Cant fault their service at all and the pipework is pure art
