I know this topic has been done to death, and a lot of us hate run flats..

So.. I need correctly..

To make the ride slightly less hard, do you slightly OVER inflate the RF's or UNDER?

If so.. I am running the 19's, and would appreciate if other UK owners could share what good pressures they have found that give a more comfortable ride?

Usually, one should under inflate the tires for a softer ride, but since you have 19" tires, I would not do that since the low profile tires and rims can get damage.

My service center has the annoying habit of setting the tire pressure to a ridiculously high setting each time the X3 is in for service. I've asked them not to, but they keep doing it. I now check my tire pressure after each service and set it where it is supposed to be. If your X3 has been serviced lately, check to see if the pressure has been changed. Be sure to reset your TPMS after making any changes.

I have mine set up at 33 in the fronts and 38 in the rear but once it heats up it is normally around 34.5 in the front and 39.5 in the rears.

With my 18's I find the ride slightly better with 2 or 3 PSI over-inflated. I think there's less bounce, more control. 18's and 19's are not really that low profile compared to 3 series so I feel the effects are different to what you'd expect.

Check the sticker on the lower right of the driver's side door jamb. The recommended pressures are listed based on load. tires, etc. For USA it is 32 front, 38 rear.

I think 32 is a bit low for the front but I've not settled on the exact best. I have discovered with RFT that at a little too low and the tire rests on the stiff RFT sidewall and the ride worsens. Adding a few PSI puts the proper curve to the tread edge and a better ride!

Given the different tyres fitted to the X3 at manufacture those PSI ratings can only be approximate, they cannot be optimal for all. It's down to individual judgement on what works best in your locality. I'm not suggesting a 50% difference but +/-10% or 15% is perfectly reasonable.

As per clivem2 i go 2-3 over on 19s. Ride is firm but control and feel is better

After reviewing the manual that provides inflation settings for different set-ups, loads, and speeds, I've been running at 38/40 on Pirelli 19s. This works well for me with regard to road feel and cornering.
