Has anyone tried the Weathertech mats for the current X3 or any experience with weathertech mats in previous cars? Are they as good as they claim and do they fit perfectly?

I believe that the OEM mats from BMW are manufactured by the same company that makes Weathertech.

Thanks just ordered from them, it was $12 shipping to my US mailbox. So, I'll save about $50 from ordering them locally. Btw, they accepted my canadian visa to a us shipping addy, for any other canadians who are interested.

Weather Tech mats are great! They are a more firm rubber that does conform the the floor of your car and cover about 1" up the side as well. The ones you get from the dealer are a more flexible rubber and they do a good job (I have had the ones that are in my car now since my 1st in 2002) but they just cover the floor.

I'm very glad I could help. My local dealer is too expensive as well (they are not friendly either). I even get my oil and filters from online BMW dealers.

Mine came with regular carpeting. I guess you have to bargain with them to include it. I got 1500 off + tints. So I'd rather have taken the tints then the floor matts since they cost more. But some people have gotten the dealer to throw it in, I mean, it's rubber, their cost can't be too high on it.

Expensive but they look like they are high-quality.
I'm on my second set from cocomats and can assure you they are of top quality. They have a heavy rubber backing that protects your carpets and the coco fibers will kind of brush the dirt off of your shoes where it disappears into the mats.

To clean the mats, you just need to turn them over and beat the dirt out. An additional bonus is that they dress up the interior and can be had in many different colors.

What's the point of the matts? What do you save the carpets for? Is there some point when you stop using the protective matts and enjoy the carpets? Or do you always have the matts? If the matts are always there, who cares about the carpets? May as well be linoleum.

I think the point of the mats is to save the carpets from wear and tear. On regular carpet material, the carpet will become quickly dirty and worn by shoes, mud, dirt, snow, etc. All-weather mats 1) will not wear; and 2) are very easy to remove, hose-down and clean.

All of my cars have gotten all-weather mats for some time now, and it improves the look and cleanliness of the car while avoiding unsightly wear.

FYI, if you do PCD you get carpeted floor mats for free. There is a small chargeback to the dealer.

Funny really - my CA appeared to "toss in" carpeted mats but the $139 charge was there on the closing docs. No big deal, I was happy with the discount I got and negotiation time was over.

I love the rubber mats! I have had them in all of my BMWs and they clean so easily and never look dingy or dirty. Just picked my x3 up last night and they gave me the rubber mats for free with it.

They will work for me so I don't have to pay for the Weather Tech ones. (Weather Tech ones are worth it if you are willing to spend the $)

Dealer threw in the rubber mats for me as well. I'm going to use some of the "experience the difference" money to get the carpeted ones too.

I saw the model they have in weathertec which seems to be pretty neat and customized for X3. Expensive though! on the other hand , I don't know what's the costs for the BMW's originals...
