2011 bmw 28ix issue - engine crank but no start.
I need help to fix the issue I have with 2011 bmw x3 28ix(n52).
The symptom is engine crank but no start. Code from ISTA: 1B5102 Terminal 15_3, line from CAS, electrical Short circuit to earth 1C5104 Terminal 15N<03: No voltage 1C5104 BSD, message; oil condition sensor: Missing so I took out the Integrated Supply Module and sperate it to replace box. oh no... BMW sodered the fuse to the board so that no one can replace it. I managed to replace the fuse and the car start right away. I thought it is easy fix and called it a day but no. I locked the door and left for a while. I tried to start it again, I won't start. The issue came back again. I pull the code and yes, it's same code. I opened box again and check the fuse, it's blown. I checked the wire diagram and all lines are connected to DME. I checked all wires from the fuse box(Integrated Supply Module) to DME and it is all good. No short circuits. I called a couple of guys to get some advises and they said it may be DME itself. I was rushing to replace DME with used one(programed as well) because I need a car asap. Replacing DME does not help. I still have same issue. I'm looking at either Valvetronic Motor or water pump. The reason is that there is very heavy load that blow the #3 fuse(15 amp) when the car wakes up. also, the box is control of the power of ignition, fuel injection, and Valvetronic motor according to the document from BMW. I need your help to resolve the issue. Please let me know your idea or solution may help me to resolve it. thank you for reading. Last edited by tech10; 08-20-2023 at 07:28 PM.. |

Hi,
I do not have any solution. When I replaced the valvetronic motor, it seems that it did not come back as frequent as it did before. I managed to find way to drive it. If I drive it no more than 15 minutes or up until the engine reach to the operating temperature, it seems o.k. I was wondering that it may be the water pump. I just got a new car because I didn’t want to spend more money to it. I am still curious what is the fix so please keep me posted. Ryan |
