Talking A question about how many people post vs lurk only

There is an X3 in our families' very near future but there is another car in thee driveway. Because of this, I frequent other car forums, such as Camaro5.com. I have been frequenting this forum quite a bit recently and I have noticed an odd thing. There are many, many people reading the posts and they are often read very quickly and I know people are online and on this forum. You can see at the bottom of the main page, just how many are online at any one time or another. Yet people barely reply, but man they read very quickly.

C'mon people! Throw up some posts! How's the weather in your area? Change your winter tires yet? Is the 3 series that much more popular than the X3 or is it that the drivers of X3's are different than 3 series drivers? Will this stimulate a conversation?

Here's a picture of MY car, just to see what posts will develop after I post this. My wife is the one getting the X3. (I can't wait for it either)

Should have been here a few years ago when the F25 was introduced. Much more......

Speaking of introduced, how about the 2016 Camero?

Well we will be stirring things up!

Thanks for the reply! I hope that things will spice up around here so my wife and I will post pics of her new X3 when we get it and take our first drives and such. It's fun to share the experience and all, same if others would also.

My current 2011 Camaro SS/RS has been great since day 1 and it's my 3rd Camaro. The new 2016 will be Gen6; camaro6.com for more info there. It will be based on the new Cadillac Alpha rear drive platform and it will be lighter than the current gen5 which is based on the Zeta platform like the Pontiac G6 and Holden Monaro.

I raced BMW 3's on the race track with my 2011 SS, both afficionado cars for sure.

I post a lot in the other sections, lurk mostly here. Seems like activity is pretty low, could be a reflection of lack of aftermarket options. And the cars are fairly new where you won't have too many troubleshooting threads.

The X3 replaced my 135is and is my new daily commuter. I was hesitant at first because I always preferred small/nimble but I have to say the F25 is pretty good. I just wish BMW offered a PPK upgrade. Yes JB4 is an option but car's under warranty and Dinan is just too pricey.

I lurk

I post

I do also follow the UK areas for other models as they are a bit livelier and have a lot of cross pollination

I'm a lurker but that's mostly because I don't own an X3 (yet) - reading up on everyone else's experiences. Nearer the time I'll probably ask questions about options etc.

I lurk and occasionally post with a lot of 1/2 posting which is writing up a post or reply (sometimes lengthy) only to bail out and do nothing. There's probably a word for that.

Me too! Sometimes I do all the research and write something and in the end I just say screw it and do not even bother.

That is 'Enhanced Lurking'. Definitely a stage above normal lurking.

Okay, I'll bite...

I'm new here.

Sold my wife's beloved 8 cylinder F150 with the promise of something more economical with all the bells and whistles within a year (that was 3 years ago)
We've been looking at the Murano, CX9 and the Edge.

Stumbled across a 2012 X3. I've never driven a BMW before, never thought I could afford one. But being a couple years old, it fit the budget.
WOW, What a ride! I've never driven anything like it! It's amazing

Took it to an expert BMW mechanic for a once-over to which he gave me the big thumbs-up, I was sold!

I made the purchase, parked it in the driveway and proceeded to pick the wife up off the floor, she LOVES it.

The mechanic said after experiencing the handling and performance of a BMW we'd never go back,... I'm starting to believe him

Hey! I'm new here so I'll post something.

Something!

That is all.

Anyway, I just moved over here from the 3er forums.
Yes they are much more active over there. I think that is because there are far more 3 owners than there are X3 owners. Also I'm guessing that the average X3 owner is older than a 3 owner. Me, I'm 57. But I am also an IT guy so I am all over the interwebs. I'm on forums for Citrix XenServer, Windows, Apple OS X, Can-Am Spyder, Rockwell Commander and Grumman aircraft, and Voice Acting (I really want out of IT). Also Facebook, Twitter, and Linked-In.
I don't get over here as much as I'd like to.

I Promise to post when I have something to say or a question to ask/answer. Until then I will be over there, in the shadows. Observing.

I tried to start a discussion about handling before/after I lowered my X4, on the X4 forum - but that was a no-go. They seem to be interested only in sound and gadgets.
