A question for the coding experts here if you have you found any hints to:
- enable (or to disable) the rear lights when the main light switch is on "AUTOMATIC" and the DRLs are on ...in the first X3(F25) models upto 2012 the rear lights were on when DRLs were on but later after some SW update the rear lights were not any more on automatically
- disable (or to enable) the bulb monitoring for the flasher bulbs ...to prepare the change for flasher LED bulbs without additional parallel resistors

Regarding the welcome light function, you can choose which group of lights on your vehicle are utilised for this function and how the ECU turns them on / off. Choosing the exponential function rather than the logarithmic type will result in a more 'even' rate of increase / decrease in brightness over time.

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_AL
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: nicht_aktiv / Werte=00
Welcome Lights - Low Beam Lights - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_FL
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: nicht_aktiv / Werte=00
Welcome Lights - High Beam - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_KZL
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: hard_on / Werte=02
Welcome Lights - License Plate Lights - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_NSW
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: nicht_aktiv / Werte=00
Welcome Lights - Fog Lights - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_POL
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: hard_on / Werte=02
Welcome Lights - Position Lights (Angel Eyes and Front Side LED's) - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

FRM 3050 WL_FUNKTION_SSL
Options are: nicht_aktiv / soft_on / hard_on / soft_on_LED
Default setting: hard_on / Werte=02
Welcome Lights - Tail Lights - 0 = Off; 1 = Soft (log); 2 = Hard (instant on); 3 = Soft (exp)

Wash before Wipe delay:

JBBFE, 3000 Wipe_Wash, WASHWITHOUTWIPE_TIME

Default value on my X3 is 200mSec

For info, the first graph below shows the exponential function and the second logarithmic, you can see that the exponential is more 'linear'...

You need NCS Expert and SP-Daten to code Exx Chassis.

When I want to monitor voltage I use a plug-in Equus gauge in the cigarette lighter socket between the cupholders. $15 from Amazon US,

Something I found interesting tonight... I can view the owners manual while the car is in motion now.

I think it must be tied to dvd playback in motion.

It sure beats having to pull over and stop to check a feature especially if the passenger is doing the reading.

Does anyone know how to code so the front orange turn signal lights do not come on when the parking lights are on (just the halo would illuminate)?

Also, does anyone know how when the headlights are set to auto, to make the fog light not illuminate when the turn signal is engaged?

I'm not sure if anyone ever confirmed it, but for the Side Markers, look for this or something similar:

FEM_BODY / 3063 LceLampMapping2 / MAPPING_SIDEMARKER_L_OUTPUT = off
FEM_BODY / 3063 LceLampMapping2 / MAPPING_SIDEMARKER_R_OUTPUT = off

Not sure about the Fog Lights.

  1. Hold down the odometer reset button and turn the ignition on by pushing start/stop button.
  2. Release the odometer reset button, and you should see a menu of 4 items on the dashboard. From here on, use the odo-reset button to advance to the next entry through a short press, and to select through a long press.
  3. Choose the one that says Unlock through the above, which will take you to a passkey screen. Your passkey is the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN. Increment the two-digit number until you get to it, and with the long press of the odo button, select it.

How do I load my vehicle coding (CAF/.ncd) files into E-Sys in order to edit or view them when not connected to my vehicle? I have gone through the E-Sys "Editors and Viewers" Tab documentation but it seems to have missed a step. I am able to copy and move the .ncd files but I can't seem to load them as it keeps asking me for an FA and that folder is empty. I have not been able to connect the dots between page 2 and 3 of that Tab.

New with E-Sys and some beginners problems:
- when installed the software all went Ok
- ZGW_Search detects the ENET cable Ok and gets e.g. the VIN

But when starting the E-Sys it cannot connetc to the car:

"Detection of programming target failed. [C032]

MCDError Severity: 2051, Error Code: 53315, Description:
internal error, Vendor Code: 28, Vendor Description:
could not parse Db project [2130759747] - SYSTEM_ERROR"

I tried two laptops (both running Win7 x64) but the same error from both.
One additional detail: E-Sys never asked any PIN ...is this normal?

Anyone had similar experience ...any hint how to get forward?

Here's the error msg with all the detailed text:
