Coding Options on X3?

I don't see many options for coding on the X3 on this site but do see a whole section dedicated to it on the 3 series forum. Is it possible to do coding on the X3 and what is required? I have a VAG-COM cable and software for my Audi and wonder if the same cable can be used with different software on the X3. Thanks for the help!

Would be nice if bmw's were as simple as using vag-com.

They are. It is just lack of easily accessible cable (ISTA/P is REALLY expensive) and Mongoose/WebISTA is not that popular... So, for now, you are right, it is not easy...
