E83 no start

Hey yall. This is my first post here. I recently picked up a 2009 x3 3.0 with a no start condition. The only codes it is showing is 002A38 which points to valvetronic motor. Would this cause a no start or no spark? I've tested for spark at the coils and I'm not getting any spark. There is no oil in the eccentric sensor connector.
