28i sounds more like a diesel?

I got my X3 28i in December of last year. My first BMW, so am still familiarizing myself with things.

I've noticed at idle that the engine noise is particularly loud, noticing it especially as I leave my parking garage at low speeds. (More of diesel purr than any other gas vehicle I've driven).

Any insight as to whether this is normal for the N20? or if it warrants any investigation.

Thanks!

Pretty normal on the 4 cylinder, they are pretty good as 4 cylinder go, but still are a bit rough and loud compared to the 6.

It gets quieter as it gets warm. But definitely a lot better than what you'll hear on the 3 series

Ok. The n20 has to work and you often run it in the 50 to 80% range.

This makes it hugely fun engine to have. A larger engine might get pushed down to 30% and you rarely tap its potential.

The n20 has to work and this gives it the fun factor.
