Question about disconnecting battery
Hi,
Will soon get my car and I will soon install a 12.3 android screen and aftermarked digital cluster. The question is: do I need to unplug the negative terminal or not? I saw tons of video and no one seems to be doing that also I come from 4 BMWs and from what I remember someone told me to not unplug the battery or I will need coding. |

I’m not certain you need to disconnect the battery- however doing so will NOT require any coding after reconnecting.
The only potential coding would possibly be related to the new display you are installing. |

Generally speaking you always disconnect the battery if fiddling with any electronics. As for "coding" afterwards, agreed, you don't need to when reconnecting the battery. Only if you are replacing it.
And yeah, good point about coding for the new display, that is certainly possible. Never replaced one though. |

Thank you for your answer, was scared I could have the car not starting on or needed coding after unplugging the negative.
The screen I'm going to install is this screen, doesn't need coding it's a plug an dplay thing. Had one installed in my E84 and now I can't live without android auto. https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005003201764329.html |

I installed a 12 android screen. There is no coding. As tracer said you should always disconnect the battery when doing electrical work. The unit I installed was all plug and play as well
