Wipers locked in park position

Hello there, the other day I was cleaning the windshield I noticed that the wipers were hard to move (I always ”slide” them up to clear the hood) I didn’t want to apply excessive force to avoid causing any damage, but I thought it was odd.
I remember reading about a way to make them park where they clear the hood by using the switch or idrive controls.
TIA,
Ivan.

Update, I am going to follow the instructions from the manual for Fold-out position, but I am wondering why I was able to manually move them before and not now?

BTW, it’s a 2014 28i.

If the blades are parked in the proper position, they will hit the hood when lifted. Though if your careful, you can lift them up enough to get your fingers under them with a towel to clean/dry the glass, without hitting the hood.

I've always had to put them in service mode(12:00) to lift them all the way up.

Proper parked position:

Thanks,
I figured it out, the wiper arms “slide” if you use one on the passenger side.
