Wobble after Snow / Ice inside wheel..

I have been enjoying my 2015 F25 Melbourne Red / M Sport for a while now and it's always fun to drive in snow / ice..

Interestingly, today in the morning it started to wobble when I was driving at 40+ mph. We had some snow in Chicago and car was parked on street for a couple of days. The steering wheel was noticeably shaky. I first thought of a flat tyre but pressure gauge showed all ok. Then I thought something was wrong with the engine but it was ok when I came to stop and revved it a bit.

I parked the car and when I started to drive again in an hour the wobble was gone.Of course, I started doing an online research. A good BMW expert friend also told me it could be because snow / ice getting stuck inside a wheel a throwing the balance off. I came across the same result when I did an online search.

This had never happened to me with my old e53 / 4.4 X5.

Is that really possible?

Opinions please..

110% possible and has happened on various vehicles I've owned while we lived in NY and commuted 125mi round trip to work and back. Deeper the snow,the worse it'd get sometimes. I'd simply pull over somewhere and clean the packed snow/slush from the wheel best I could.

Yes, happened to me a few times a year. The worse is if you drive in slush, when they freeze up they are stuck there until it warm up.

Good to know. It's very interesting how sensitive the balance of the wheels. It must be one of the front since the steering wheel was shaking quite a bit..

Agreed w/ the others, been there, done that. If you think about the wheel weights they put on, and how things can shake even with them just a little bit off, you can realize it really doesn't take too much snow or ice to notice it.
