I'm planning on hitting the dealership in a couple of weeks to hopefully order the 2013 X3 28i. My question is what kind of luck have you had with trade-ins? Me getting into an X3 lease will depend on how much I get for my 2008 Infiniti G37 with 54k miles in good to very good condition according to KBB.
If I don't get a good trade it's doubtful I'll be able to get my X3. Any insight or past US experiences would be greatly appreciated! |

Try selling it outright on Craig's List. Sold my Acura MDX in less than a week on it and got $1,000 over KBB's highest private sale price.

I ordered a 2013 X3 35i in early March, and I'm trading in a 2010 Infiniti G37x Coupe with 43000 miles on it. The price BMW gave me for the trade-in was right in line with kbb and Edmunds trade in values. In addition, it was good for 60 days irrespective of additional mileage. Considering that I put between 1500 and 2000 miles a month on my car, I thought that was a good deal. Having said that, you can probably do better selling it on your own as other have pointed out.

Also remember to factor in the tax savings when you trade in on a new car.
The dealer might give you less than what you can get from other places, but many times the tax savings will make up the difference. |

But that depends on what state you live in. Not all states do that. Michigan doesn't.

When I asked my dealer how much he would offer for my 06 RAV4 he said straight out that I'd be better off selling it myself via Craig'sList.
He said if I want and estimation then going to CarMax and getting their offer would be probably the amount I'd get everywhere else. So you can price it that way. |
