Anyone experience this before?

I was in Italy for a couple of weeks, and returned to Switzerland using Nav. Once I crossed the border, I shut off guidance, because I didn't require it any further. I noticed then, that in split screen mode, my "direction of travel" map was zoomed out to about a 1:600 scale. Thought nothing of it, accredited it to the GPS adjusting. A couple of house later, it had moved out to 1:1000. Since a few days, it has been zoomed out to a the globe. Since in split screen mode, the dial can't be used as a touch zoom pad, I find no way of rectifying this. Anyone know how to resolve this? Please advise
