Stutter

Has anyone experienced engine stutter that almost feels like a misfire on '12 28i? There is now a noticeable engine shaking from side to side just after the engine starts that lasts a minute or so while at idle and low RPM while moving (bouncy as well), then goes away. No messages on the iDrive.

Thanks.

If you search for idling issues or surging I think you'll find a ton on this topic. Short answer: yes!!

I don't see many mentions of this issue for the X3, and no solutions

This is not the issue where the throtle varies widely in idle.

this is just how it is when the engine is cold and its normal behavior. i think its the lifters making that noise, give it a couple mins to warm up and its gone.

There's no noise, just the vibration/shaking.

Watch your RPM when this is happening and you should see the needle moving. Mine does this irregularly but twice in a row this week. Last year I took it to the dealer and they CND. I don't think it's 'normal' - its a fuel injected car with electronic everything, it should compensate for cold starts like very other car I've owned. Take it in, see what they say.

RPM is stable. I just think it will be another case of them not being able to find anything wrong with it. There's a thread on a sedan with an N52 that i've read yesterday, where a similar issue was solved by software update on an E90 I think.

Thanks.

After carefully looking at the RPM needle today, I did notice ever so slight up-and-down just south of 1000 RPM right after engine start. Is this the issue you had, or you had much more RPM fluctuation?

Thanks.
