AdBlue topup range on BMW X3 (UK)
My 2018 X3 was with the dealer (in Uk) for a recall and they completed a ‘complimentary health check’.
They said my AdBlue needed topping up - but wasn’t able to to do it as they had none in stock. iDrive was showing range as 7000miles and refill of 7 litres. It’s important to note no top warning or reminders came up. I purchased Redex Adblue and topped up about 7l. Restarted my vehicle and it now shows range as 8000miles and refill of 0.0l. I’m confused as to why 7L has only given me 1000miles. Does that sound right? Sorry first diesel vehicle so unsure. |

I think warnings start as the range gets lower, say around 1500 miles remaining, so I wouldn't expect a warning with 7000 miles range left. IIRC the tank is around 15l, and my M40d was showing 50-60% full in the iDrive 7 status screen after about 8600 miles. BMW filled it when it was serviced, and it then registered as 100% full but it doesn't show an estimated range. Last edited by avi66; 04-28-2024 at 11:09 AM.. |

Yeah I was thinking warnings would come up when it was running low, so I was confused with as to why BMW said I should top up without any warning lights. There’s only 37000 miles on the clock and I owned the vehicle for 12 months (purchased at 35k). I think it must be my model (2018 X3) that shows a range, but it does say it’s full but I guess maybe 8000 is max range. |
