How to test Aircon is working to Spec?
Hi,
Does anyone know the BMW test to confirm if the aircon is working to spec? I assume this will be a table showing inside temp at the central vent vs outside temp, or similar. My aircon seems to never get really cold compared to other previous cars I have owned, all which froze you hand if held in front of the main central vent for more than 30 secs. These being Merc, Toyota, Kia, Peugeot, etc, so a fair range. Seems to have been like this from new and my local dealer just says it is Ok without actually testing anything, or using temp probes. I would like to give them some measurements against the BMW spec, to get it fixed before it goes out of warranty. I don't see any other threads asking about specs, just impressions it is not working correctly (like me), and I would like a definitive answer either way, if possible. Thanks Buzzpipaluk |

I'm glad I found this thread, I've had a 2012 XDrive 2.0i for two weeks now and have found that with the panoramic roof cover open, it tends to get really hot inside quickly and the aircon struggles to keep up.
Even with the cover closed, I agree with the assessment that airflow never seems to get as cold as it could. It never feels *freezing* as it did in my F20 118i, which I practically never had to run at full blast. |

The a/c might need to get recharged with Freon
