Hi Sephanite,

There are a couple of variants recommended by local dealers.

I use in my F25 X3 2.0D: Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30 LL04. Important to use a BMW rated long life oil, especially if you go the 2 year old change interval. I change my oil every 12 months, irrespective of mileage.

You can also use Castrol / Shell of other weights. Ask your local dealer in the state you live what they recommend. The dealer will normally say, go buy the 1L `BMW` branded bottle from BMW spares - so just ask them which specific weight and brand they use, then purchase from your local automotive spares shop.
