i am going to code my friends car over the weekend - do i have to clean my e-sys files so they don't conflict with his car?
also - i enabled Bmw live and BMW internet, how do i tether my internet from my phone. I know how to enable tethering on my iPhone but i am not able to connect it to the car, not sure how to do it?

You do not have to worry about anything Use the same laptop and code as many cars s you like. If you have ECU CAFD with the same name, when you read his ECU, it will overwrite the .NCD readout of your ECU, but you have no use for this file anyway.

As I wrote to you in Post # 806:

"...you still probably cannot get Internet / BMW Live. It is not available in North America, and in some cases it can be made to work; however, it's difficult and the success rate is low."

Some have been able to get SMS to work. To date, nobody has gotten email to work with an iPhone, either with or without coding.

I found the way how to get email to work with an iPhone. I am running ios7.
In your iPhone: Go to setting > notification centre > mail > gmail ( or whatever email account you have) > enable show on lock screen.

Going forward, every time you get a text or an email , if your text or emails show up on your lock screen then they will show up in yours idrive under office > messages. You will also get a mail icon on your I drive screen.

That solved my issue and I hope it will for you too.

Shawn - I use an an iPhone and now my text and mail show up in my idrive under office > message. I posted the solution on the previous post.

So I finally finished all my coding however I need help on few more things.

I want my side mirror to fold when I turn off the car. Just my side mirrors But all the cheat sheet that I found were for ( side mirror, windows and sunroof). What can I do to code just my side mirrors ?
Also- every time the outside temperature goes below or above +3 degrees Celsius , I get a dong warning me of the current temperature. How can I disable that?
And - you know when you turn the heated seats and heated steering wheel on and then you turn off the car. If you are back within 15 min and you turn on the car, the heated seats and heated steering wheels get turned on automatically. How can I extend the memory period from 15 min to any amount of minutes ?

I don't NBT , I have CIC, how can I change the BMW logo on the cluster and the BMW splash on my idrive screen?

For the side mirror when closing the car:

CAS 3003 KMFRT_OEFFNEN (Open utton Delay for side mirrors closing 05 for 0,5sec 0A for 1sec 0F for 1,5sec)

F20/ F25 / F30 has no CAS. Try FEM_Body. This will only change the delay at which the mirrors / windows / moonroof opens and closes while holding CA Ridges or Fob. It will not adjust the mirrors independently of the Windows and Moon Roof as you asked.

Well, your mirrors have been discussed already.

As for the Outside Air Temp gong, it is a Frost Warning, and Frost occurs at 37⁰ F or 3⁰ C. I am pretty sure this temperature is hard coded, as unless you are Mother Nature and can change the physics of what temperature frost occurs at, then there is no reason to change this value. However, I think it is enabled via S842A Cold-climate version Option Code and can be disabled by FDL Coding Kombi => CC_TEMPERATUR WARNUNG = nicht aktiv.

As for the duration of the Heated Seats and Steering Wheel, I have no idea, as I have never had the need to look into it here in Houston. If it can be changed though, it would likely be in IHKA, and the FDL Codes I would look at are these:

ERSTE_HEIZZEIT_HHS_A
ERSTE_HEIZZEIT_HHS_B
ZWEITE_HEIZZEIT_HHS
TAKTDAUER_HHS

I won't speculate on Internet / BMW Live. There are way too many variables involved. I can only refer you to what I did to get it working in my car, which is detailed here:

Dealer just upgraded the firmware on my car a few days ago. Forgot that I would need to reprogram everything including setting up for all of the LED's. I also realized the software I have now is likely not going to work anymore (about a year old and stopped serving it up via BT many, many months ago).

Would you please send me a fresh link of the software and tokens I'll need to restore my X3 to it's former, customized, LED glory? I assume the directions have not changed?

For troubleshooting, you can do some basic stuff with Tool32 (part of EDIABAS) and INPA, but you really need ISTA/D.

You can flash new firmware onto ECU's using the same coding software E-Sys and PSdZData. You seldom get new feature sin new firmware, but occasionally somethings are added or changed, like in the Instrument Cluster or Head Unit.

It most certainly does not have F010-xx-xx-xxx PSdZData. The only way you could come up with this is if you exported the profile data from car and read the .xml file, but this "I-Step" is not your car's actual I-Step.

Read VCM with E-Sys, and what does your real I-Step (I-Step Current) show?

The export profile file was where I read that from. I just got the cable but don't have E-sys yet. Been a little confused reading about the different e-sys and psdz versions required for different I-step levels.

My car last had a software upgrade sometime in May 2012 if that helps...
