This windshield is designed to counteract the detrimental effects of wearing polarized sunglasses. Unless BMW is full of it, you should be fine.
Well, heck. BMW is full of it (at least what they told you or wrote). If you wear polarized sunglasses (I have Maui Jims) you can't see the HUD. I'll snap some photos when I get a chance.
I never wear sunglasses but that's definitely unfortunate. Try adjusting height and brightness. If that doesn't work, maybe just get a shitty pair of sunglasses that aren't polarized to keep in the car with you, and you can wear the polarized ones otherwise.

As nice as the HUD is, many find no use for it, as it is rather redundant. Hardly a safety feature, you may end up turning it off. Although I do understand the need to feel like you spent your money for a reason ($1,300 for HUD, $300 for sunglasses). I'll do some research and see what other options you have.

I never used it on the M6 or the X6, if you order this:
Climate comfort package 358 Climate Comfort windscreen 402 Panoramic glass sunroof 417 Sunblinds - rear side windows

You can NOT have it here in the UK.
I have ordered all the packages and did not need/want HUD.

HUD, Still Love it!

Yeah, it sucks that polarized lenses don't work, but damned polarized lenses do the same thing with computers and the iPhone (but not nearly as bad). It's just the way it is. It's not for everyone.

Night time, of course, is no trouble. Day time, good idea to pick-up a crappy pair of shades. I actually have a couple other pairs I need to try.

Here's a couple photos in case others want to see or are thinking about ordering the HUD. Sorry for the quality of the pics (especially the night pic)... hard to snap a photo while driving. I wanted to show the colors (green is the indicator that the cruise control is on and working, it will also show the speed it's set to when you resume. Orange is speed and yellow (though hard to see the diff in the pic, is the navigation). The nave has a couple different shades of yellow and tan to indicate various nav functions (turning, road names, arrows, miles, etc.) Pretty cool all and all.

Photos of the pickup on Saturday afternoon!

We snapped a few photos of the pick-up. They had it in the show room and said they had a couple offers on it. True or not, it was a nice thing to say and made us feel good.

I have a tendency to speed... a little. And seeing the speed actually reminds me I'm speeding (a little more than I think I'm speeding)... I'm always speeding.

I like the cruise control visual and of course the navigation on the HUD is fantastic. Definitely have mixed feelings on it.
