Bluetooth problems
I've got an iPhone 4 connected via Bluetooth. Everything has worked fine up to now but now when I phone people they say they cannot hear me or it is really faint.
Have tried reconnecting but makes no difference. Don't understand why this has happened. Anyone else had this and know the fix ? |

Did you get the ~£285 pack or the ~£550 version with snap in? If the former you are relying on the phone not the car aerial so could be to do with that. Still amazed that my STD car does not work with Bluetooth! The chip & wire cannot be worth too much £.

It was the £285 option. Think it is more to do with the Bluetooth connection rather than phone signal as it was at max.
Read some other forums complaining of same thing. Some say it is the iPhone software but dint understand this as the Bluetooth was working ok initially and iPhone hasn't changed ??? |

If you have the £285 option does that mean no connection to a cradle? Only there is a new iPhone4 snap-in adapter available now (apparently) which may resolve the problems

You should move to the front seat.
Just kidding... I know that the volume you hear must be set during a conversation, but the mic volume should be preset. If others report no problems maybe you should call your dealer (using the BT) and ask them to look at it.

Mic volume is also adjustable during a call via iDrive; perhaps that somehow defaulted to a very low level? During a call, go into Tone, Volume Settings, and then scroll down to the bottom. If memory serves, you should see two of those "- +" bars, one for volume of the call and one for volume of the mic.

Oh, and I'm assuming "Mic Volume" meant what I would have called mic sensitivity. Haven't been able to test it with anyone during a call -- I just fussed with it in a call with someone I wouldn't want to tell I was playing with my new X3 while talking to them!!!

Hmm, don't know what to say. It's there on mine. Is your phone paired as a phone or just as an external audio device?

I had this problem in a 330i Coupe a few years back. If you look in the housing above your head there is a small grill which holds the microphone. I removed the thick piece of sponge that exists between the microphone and the grill and it made it 10x better!
