Sound System Upgrade

I have the HI-FI S676A option in my car and I'm not too happy with the sound quality.
Would it be better to upgrade the amplifier, speakers or both?
Can anyone point me towards some good plug and play options?

Thanks.

Amp first, the amp is seriously lacking.

Have a look on the 3 and 5 series boards, lots of plug and play amp upgrades.

Did you do the upgrade, I actually feel the sound quality is better than the HK option at least in the X4, power is another thing though.

Thanks.
I bought the Bimmer Tech PP82DSP Amp. Once that's installed I'll see if I want to change the speakers too.

Do I need a sound file to update the amp?

I'm actually pretty happy with the HK system in my 2016 X3... I was thinking of upgrading the bass but after listening to it for about a week I decided I'm pretty happy.

From what I understand, the HK is pretty good. What I have is the Hi-Fi version which I personally don't think is good.
I'm hoping the Amplifier upgrade will improve the sound.

Will post pics once done.

You are welcome.

I dropped the dsp-amp in week after I got my wagon. Then added Earthquake SWS underseat subs. I'm pretty happy with the sound.
I'm waiting on reviews of the Bavsound under seat subs now.

I have a PP82DSP Match from bt too - could not find any Sound file for the F25 in the forum. Received 3 diffrent files from bt and modified the aggressive one.

Does anybody have one to share?

How can I upload a file?

Regards, Freebiker

I knew this thread they are sharing files for F30 - but not one for a F25 found in there. That is the reason I have posted here.

Got the amp. Having a bit of an issue trying to install it. There doesn't appear to be much space and I cant get the retractable parcel tray holder cover off. See photos..
Does anyone know how to remove this?
Also, I can't find a soundfile for a RHD F25 so will have to make one.

You don't need to remove the panel.

There is a small 10mm nut at the top of the amplifier (between the 2 units) - remove that and then push the amplifier up (it will come away from the bracket).

Slide the new amp in and then replace the nut (this is the tricky part with the limited space - be patient and don't drop it).

Re files - I just installed the base OEM settings and then adjusted the distance settings from driver seat to all the speakers.

Dabbler.

If you want to upgrade just the bass, Bavsound has new underseat woofers that fit. I just put them in a couple days ago and they're quite nice. Very easy to install too.

Ok.. that didn't work. I have a 'TV Modul' directly under the amplifier. I was able to remove the existing amp but the BT amp is taller and hence wont go in.
If I can get the side panel open, I could probably figure out a way to remove the 'TV Modul' and mount that elsewhere.

hi msb100

I removed this cover and the side panel when I have installed the oem rear view cam earlier this year. as I remember there is a screw on the side and the cover you have to lift up...

I can send you the 3 sound files and you have to change the delay with the pc tool. you can just swap the distances from left to right, the center you do not have to change. If you need any assistance let me know.

I use my ipad now but the files are on my pc. give me a sign if I should load them here.

The bass is okay, the middle and high tone speakers I will change by eton b100 w, allready ordered but not received yet. for the co pilot door I have allready used gladen alubutyl and I think there is a diffrence compared to the driver side door which is still without that gladen stuff. but I think we can enjoy the sound without that work done. have to see how it is with the eton, especially the high tones.

best regards from switzerland, freebiker
