Altitude

With my old X5 I was able to display the altitude of the vehicle - under 'Vehicle Position' if I remember correctly.
With my new X3 I can't seem to find any location in the Idrive that will do the same. Am I missing something or is the vehicle altitude not available with the X3. I have the professional sat nav.

No need to search more, here is what to do.

Push the iDrive knob to the right so you can scroll through the options for what gets displayed on the split screen. Select "Position" near the bottom of the list. The smaller right hand screen will display what street your on, lat and lon, and altitude.

From the 2011 manual page 139:

Map view for split screen
The map view can be selected for the split
screen independently from the main screen.
1. Open "Options".
2. "Split screen"
3. Move the controller to the right repeatedly
until the split screen is selected.
4. Select "Split screen content" or the scale.
5. Select the map view.
▷ "Arrow display"
▷ "Map facing north"
▷ "Map direction of travel"
▷ "Map view with perspective"
▷ "Position"
▷ "Exit ramp view"
▷ "Traffic conditions/gray map"

Hope this helps.

Ok - got it now. Thanks. Only trouble is it gives the altitude in yards ??? Yards???? Can I change to feet? Even metres would do.

I would think seeing yards instead of feet would be reasonably consistent with wanting to drive on the wrong side of the road so what did you expect?

Over here, where we drive on the right side of the road and the display is in feet.
