By the way, the above link is the chart I am referring to in my previous post.

http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/X

Specifically for the X3 that shows compatibility with other BMWs.

Yes those. I wouldn't rely on that chart too much. I used the X5 wheels on an E83 X3 without issues and they do fit the F25 - there's no reference to compatibility.

I should say that I have X3 size tyres on them

So for those who say a 17 won't fit a 35d that's BS. I'll post a pic when I'm at home.

It is all down to the size of the brake callipers. Nothing else comes into play.

By the way the web site I referenced, is 2012, so not up to date, but still a good reference document to start off with.

I highly recommend it. It's one of the very few "studless winter tires" on TireRack with an H speed rating.

Out of it's peers such as the Blizzak WS series, it handles more like an all season in the dry. Obviously a Blizzak WS will handle better in deep snow and ice, but the X-Ice Xi3 will still outperform the "performance winter tires".
On TireRack, both tires in the 245/50/18 size are 104H rated. The Blizzaks seem to have slightly better ratings. Here's the other thing though I discovered, which I would've never thought of checking. The tread depth when new. The X-Ice have the typical 10.5/32 tread depth, but the Blizzaks have 12/32 tread depth, which means they should last longer, if both wear the same rate.

I'll be getting a set of those, non RFT, plus a tire inflator kit to keep in the trunk.

That's weird though because it does it when I'm going slightly downhill and barely touching it though??
