NACA ducts under X3 by front of rear door!!

I bought a model of my X3 on EBAY. Underneath it were two NACA scoops. I went and looked under my X3 and they are there. NO openings so they don't work. YOU don't need pictures, go look at your X3.

Had to google NACA duct to understand what the heck you're talking about.

Can you take a picture? (and indicate which is the front and rear directions). I work in aerodynamics, and am curious. In recent years, automakers have been paying much more attention to underbody aerodynamics. Most likely they are there to modify the pressure field under the vehicle, or to provide some manner of flow control. Of course, they could be dummy ducts that only get a cutout on certain models or with certain options, but I doubt that.

Just inboard of the NACA Ducts that lead nowhere are the sets of (5) louvers in the same lower body panel. It looks like both the "closed" duct and the blank louvers would add some drag, but maybe they actually disrupt flow and reduce drag like the dimples on a golf ball, or possibly reduce the positive pressure build up under the car. Or maybe the guys at the BMW wind tunnel are just having fun with us.
