Looks like BMW told all Video reviewers “you must use corporate footage”

Is not the fuel only that matters in the european equation. Once you pass 2.0 liter engine you are falling under a much higher tax bracket in European Union. Plus the tax for pollution, euro 2, 3, 4 and so on.
Diesel is the same as gas in price now that half or maybe more of Europe is diesel; there is also the more milleage you get from the diesel, plus the torque and engine’s longevity.

Very Good but not Outstanding

I have read a good portion of the English press and although the write ups were positive and complimentary the overall impression was that it was not a class best.

The car will sell, no doubt, but again I can’t help but feel that BMW is still in that Vanilla zone.

The market is changing, diesel sales are falling fast as it now has a bad reputation for pollution. People want hybrid or petrol

BMW and other similar brands are having to offer big discounts to shift metal.

Wonder what the competition did better here.

But I agree with some others that they could've done the front end better (especially the headlights). I prefer the F25 front, it looks more agressive.

I think the new X3 M40i looks great. Once my M2 is paid off and my family no longer needs three rows of seats, Im planning to replace my wife?s car with an X3 M40i. We find the X5 just too big for an everyday around-town hauler.

I agree 100%

That front end "mouth" area with the massive nostril grills just looks goofy to me. If I was shopping for a car in this segment I would be looking at the new SQ5 over this. Though not a fan of the fake exhaust "tips" on that car its better looking than this X3. Hopefully BMW fixes it with the X3M.

I saw the X3 M40i this past weekend at the UDE in Arlington Heights, IL. Thought it looked good in person. Can't wait to drive one.

Interesting.. To each their own - I don't think it looks bad at all. I'm not sure I would have went with the hexagon lights and the sculpting if the rear lights are a little overdone to me but overall I think it's nice. Some reviewers seem to like it and others not, too. For as long as I've owned X3s. , every iteration seems to bring about a sharp divide in opinion of its looks.

I personally like it a lot more than the SQ5. Those trapezoidal lights...... And that nondescript rear.. Ugh... and I did consider it briefly earlier this year.

Different strokes I guess, I think it looks way better than the F25. Something weirdly cutesy about the squinting/slanted headlights on that. Then the LCI added a droopy look to the headlight. The G01 front just looks BMW, nothing amazing but nothing odd, and the rear is a great modern update.

I'm surprised more people aren't discussing what appears to be the fact that there will be a 6-cylinder diesel in the North American variant. Motor Trend says this anyway. Sounds like a great option!

I agree, I think the G01 is an improvement over prior X3 models both in terms of looks and interior fit/finish. And to me anyways looks much nicer than Audi q5 or volvo xc60. As such I am looking forward to receiving my G01. But as you said different strokes for different folks...

I hope the fit and finish is class best. My F30 is feeling cheap compared to my friends new X1.

EU as a whole doesn't have a tax like that. Each country has their own taxes. As far as I know, a tax based on engine size isn't common.

The F25 was already as big as the E53.

Just to give you an European perspective on this x3 (from the Netherlands). The X3 20i will cost 58k euros, the 30i will be 72k and the 40i will be 90k. Also note that the current price for a gallon of gass is 5,73 euro (6,70 us dollar). Although i really like this car, thats a lot more then a f30

I?m actually in Norway so I know all about high car taxes, even though they?re been lowered some the last few years.

So, just been to reveal of the new X3. Impressive SUV, BMW have done pretty much everything right. But there were no test driving at this stage. Impressive with the quality, better than F15 imo. And the Phytonic blue were awsome!
