Optional BMW Maintenance & Warranty Program Upgrade... Is it worth it?

I'm now finalizing my purchase for X3 35i with M Sports Package, and DHP. I'm one of those guys who pay cash and keep the car for minimum of 6 years. Do you folks feel the 2yr, 100k Warranty/ Maintenance cost ~2295 is worth the investment. Also considering the BMW Tire/ Wheel Protection 5 year program due to all the pot holes and rough roads in the NE.

What say you guys?

I would say its a personal choice really.

I did go for the maintenance and tyre insurance as I wanted to know that over the next 3 years I would not have to pay anything more for the servicing and having read some bad write ups on run flats and the cost of them I wanted to be covered on those in case of damage (UK Roads are bad!)

I understand you can get any of these warranties at anytime during the normal vehicle warranty. I did not get them with my vehicle purchase but I am strongly considering getting them before the warranty is up. There is no point in rushing though...

Considering how expensive even the simplest repairs are (my bud's water pump that went out in his E90 with 60k miles was over $2k) the extended warranty seems like a good idea.

I did not get the BMW Tire / Wheel Protection. I have the 19" style 309's and I have damaged 2 of them on the left side (1 leaks air and one is just not balanced anymore). I have no idea how I did this but I guess they are very fragile because of the low profile tires. It seems like a good investment. The 309 style 8.5" wide (front wheel) is $522 to replace.

I'm working with a salesman who is a friend of the family. Consequently, I can get a reasonable price initially. You folks are correct, however, you can purchase the additional Warranty/ Maintenance Extension any time during the first 4 years of purchase (albeit perhaps at a few dollars more). At this moment, I'm leaning more towards just the Tire/ Wheel Protection Add-on, especially since I'm building a X35i, M-Sport with DHP.

I created a calculator to help me with the tire warranty decision making process. Feel free to use it:

I decided to definitely go with the extended maintenance as we put a lot of miles on the wife's car (now X3, previously an '01 MDX), and it made sense given she likes to keep her cars for a very long time.

The only dealer-offered add-on I went with at the closing of the deal was the wheel-tire thing. I'm looking for 3rd party options for a clear bra, and possibly paint/leather treatments. The business manager guy I was working with said that the wheel-tire thing was only available at the point of purchase.

I just purchased my X3 35i last week and decided on the 2 year extended maintenance program (6yrs/ 100k) and the tire/wheel protection program (5 years). I was able to negotiate both for several hundreds of $ below list price.

I will be having to make these decisions in the next few weeks when I meet with the finance guy.

Can someone list the different things they are going to ask me about? What are the list prices? What should I REALLY pay, if I were to sign up for them?

The only two I know about are the tire/wheel and extended warranty...but I don't know the prices.

Thanks,
Adam

It's our first BMW, an '11 X3 35i. We bought extended 2-year/100K, with no supporting facts or analysis, based solely on the adage "You don't want to own a BMW out of warranty." We'll hit 100K in the fifth year and we'll be happy if we never have need to invoke the warranty.
Didn't buy the tire warranty.

I had used similar calculations and didn't go for Tire Warranty program as My guess is I wont get more than one flat a year which is very reasonable based on my previous records.
