UK insurance quotes X3 35D

So, car arrives in a couple of weeks.

Two insurance quotes one from Liverpool Victoria and one from BMW Insurance.

LV gives full invoice payout if total loss in first year (nice touch) and that aside I am not certain of cover differences. But, the BMW quote is 2.5x the LV one.

Am I missing something?

Any thoughts/comments/experience welcome. My M3 three years ago had a very competitive BMW quote.

I'm with Aviva, about £350.

I took out gap insurance through a dealer incentive. I think BMW give you 7 days free insurance (please check).
My car insurance is Multi Car with Admiral. Total of £460 for the X3 and an old Honda Jazz. Both with full business use cover 14,000 miles per year on the X3.
I couldn't find any insurance company even close.
Admiral do try and rip me off each year by sending a renewal quote that's several hundred pounds higher. I then have to 'trick' the website into giving me a quote as a new customer, and call them to price match.

we have BMW insurance - were cheaper in first year (we took GAP with dealer @ £300 for 3 years) renewed with BMW last year, were same price as others, LV were £100 dearer...

So its horses for courses - We pay £320 for 2 drivers, 3 points each, both over50 - for class 1 business use.

Thanks for all your replies. Am Admiral now but they continue to be very fussy with extras. But will check anyway and maybe add gap insurance.

LV seems v good to me as a quote.

I have been with L & V for the past 20 years. No other company comes close. I pay £286 with 77% NCD. If you are with the CSMA (it is worth joining if you are eligible) you get 5% discount and if you have a second car you also get a further 5% discount.

As has been stated with L & V, in the first year of ownership of a new car if it is written off you get return to invoice.

After that the best option is to the get 4 year GAP insurance (return to invoice) with https://gapinsurance123.co.uk/

So with L & V insurance, first year return to invoice, you then follow with a 4 year GAP 123 cover (yes you can do this), that starts after the first year, you can drive away with the safe knowledge that you are COMPLETELY covered for 5 years. You have to purchase this GAP insurance at the time you get the new car, NOT ONE YEAR LATER. This is extremely important.

I had a new 2012 F31 320d Sport that I sold after 2 years, so the GAP insurance had run for 1 year. This left 3 years of purchased gap cover left that GAP123 transferred to the X3 xDrive30d M Sport.

Note 1. When you purchase the GAP policy, make sure you get the correct one so that you have this flexibility, just in case your circumstances change.

Note 2. The BMW annual insurance is overpriced as is their GAP insurance. I only used the BMW 7 day free insurance as an addition to drive the car away. Nothing else.
