iPhone will still NOT sync via BlueTooth
I've tried basically all the tips and tricks here to sync my iPhone 3Gs to my iDrive so I can stream music, yet no luck.
I can make/receive phone calls with ease - no issue there since day 1. I can't even sync my iPod with iDrive, fwiw. Any others with issues as such and were able to do something to alleviate the issue? |

When you go into the bluetooth setting and select the iPhone is "audio" checked as well as "Telephone"? To try to play the music are you navigating to the iPhone through iDrive to External Devices, selecting the iPhone, and choosing a playlist/track from there?
It's been working fine for me so I don't really have an, "ah ha! that fixed it" experience to share. The above are items that seemed like they could be problems, for what it's worth.

Yes, to my knowledge, I think that's def checked. I think LEDZEP had said that was a fix for him/her - but I will need to try that again this evening to make sure.
I literally have tried everything - |

Hmm. If you're making/receiving calls, bluetooth must be on and working on the iPhone. Can't think of anything else on the phone to set. Hopefully LEDZEP's got something to suggest. Will run through connecting mine again and post if something jumps out. Hope it works out.

Have you ever had it working for Bluetooth audio? If you've followed the steps here (I think you have already) then I can't think why it won't work. Just make sure when trying to set it up for Bluetooth audio, you never connect it via USB, and that you only try to re-pair it when you're on the Bluetooth settings screen on iDrive (as per thread above).

I see
I'm all out of suggestions then I'm afraid. Maybe post some screenshots to see if anyone can spot anything unusual. Could be a fault with iDrive

I have the same problem. When I get to the screen as shown here:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D...lectBTFunc.jpg it only allows me to select "Phone". There isn't an option to select Audio and Phone. I also have a 3Gs. I wonder if a iPhone 4 would behave differently. |

ahem... but I digress. I have the iPhone 4, and only for a month if that - so I won't even pretend to be an expert. But I will say that I've recently been having some bluetooth function problems myself. First, with my remote earpiece, then today with the X5 - it just wouldn't sync. With the earpiece problem over the weekend, I turned off Bluetooth (Settings > General > Bluetooth) waited a minute then turned it back on. That worked - but today it wouldn't sync with the X5 and that didn't help. So, I rebooted the phone and then all was well. I've noticed when checking the Bluetooth controls during these troubleshooting sessions, that the little "I'm busy" icon (circle, showing rotation) is constantly working as if it is trying to discover devices. I will have to check that when it seem "healthy" and figure out if it's normal. I suppose it might be, because after all it really needs to constantly be scanning for devices or it wouldn't pair with them.

Do you have nav or the latest BT/Assist package? I was told that without these the audio over BT does not work. I dont have nav and also do not get those screens/choices. However maybe I dont get them due to my faulty radio unit. Right now I cant even play music with the Y cable and iphone 4. Currently waiting for a new radio unit from Germany, 2-3 weeks est (still no confirmation)

Any one have any success with this?
I get this screen below, but there's no audio option to check/uncheck appearing at all, just the bluetooth. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D...lectBTFunc.jpg |

Is the phone disconnected from the car entirely? I could not make it work when it was connected with the USB cable. Also, every time I connected it I had to re-pair the device. I gave up trying and now use BT audio only, without ever connecting the phone (not even to charge - USB is too smart and still recognizes the phone).
