New X3 Owner
Picked up a sweet 2007 msport with 40k miles for my girlfriend Saturday. Alpine white, adaptive xenons, navigation, all the good stuff.
Already ordered some 32w Beyond Driven Auto LED angel eye bulbs and some tint to make the tail lights match the blacklines on my 335i. Just need to get some OEM black grilles, remove the X3 badge, change the doors speakers, and it'll be perfect. I coded my 335i to use the angel eyes as DRL, and turn the corner lights off. I'm guessing I can do the same to the X3 without too much trouble right? Since it's right at 40k miles, and I don't have a maintenance history, I'm going to go ahead and do the transfer case fluid, transmission fluid, oil, and plugs/coils. I'll update this thread as I get this thing looking the way my girlfriend want it to look. Last edited by JerMe404; 08-21-2015 at 09:01 PM.. |

I replaced the yellow angel eyes with some 32w LEDs from BDA. They look fantastic, and have a cleaner color than the Lux V6 set on my e90. I'll code the orange corners out at some point.

I recently picked up an 08 montego blue m-sport with 40k on it with no maintenance either. I had oil changed, brake fluid flushed, cabin and air filter, front and rear dif and transfer case fluids all changed. I will be doing brakes here in next couple of months too. I drive it to work and its a nice little sav to drive. I wanted to feel comfortable with having all maintenance done so I should not have to worry about it. Debating on doing tranny flush and filter but a lot of people say to just leave it alone. I am going to order those bulbs as I hate the yellow look with my xenons. Please post what you do with the speakers as I would be interested in that too. Thanks and nice car!

All badges removed from the car, it's looking great. I have some Lamin-X film for the tails, just need to hit them with the 3m restoration kit first.
Tomorrow I'm doing transfer case, engine, and diff fluids on the X3, and the same on my 335i (minus transfer case obviously). Just ordered some Alpine SPS-410s to round out the speaker department for now. Transmission fluid/filter kit from ECS ordered as well. |

Here she is. I used dental floss to remove the badges on my 335i, and it kept breaking. This time I used fishing line and the badges came off much more easily.
I also replaced the fog light bulbs with a yellow kit from PIAA, since we use the fog lights for driving in fog, rather than driving around with them on all the time. The second picture here also shows the OEM blacklines on my car. I'm hoping the Lamin-X kit I bought will give the X3 a similar look. I really wish BMW did a blackline version of these X3 tails. Very nice. The X3 symbol on the back of my '06 X3 has some damage and I need to replace it. Appreciate the finishing line recommendation. What did you use to remove the adhesive? Your X3 cleaned up very nicely.

Acetone. Just be careful not to get it on any plastic parts.

Just the bulbs. If you don't have factory angel eyes, you'll need to replace the entire headlight.
