APEX Wheels | Test Fitment Volunteers Needed

Hey All,

I think quite a few of you will have seen my post in the G01 section already, but now that we're specifically on the hunt for M models I figured a thread here would also help.

Paging F97/F98 X3/X4M owners in the Bay area! We're looking for volunteers for testfits and laser scans that will help launch new fitments for future wheel lines! Volunteers will get copies of the photos (if a photoshoot is involved), a discount on a set of future APEX wheels, and APEX goodies/swag. The shoots will be located in or around the bay area near our Pleasanton office. If you're interested in volunteering, please fill out and submit our online form (no robots allowed!).

We're looking to validate fitments and gather brake scan data.
Here's an idea of what a typical test fitment and brake scan looks like:

We're excited to launch all-new diameters and designs but we need your help. Let us know if you have any questions as well!

-Tom

I'm down in LA but if you don't find someone closer I could visit family up there and make a trip out of it.

Awesome, I’ve been for one of your fitments before and had a great time; wish I was closer!

Looking forward to a set of VS5RS for my X3M!

Any updates? I'd love to see the VS5RS's in a 21" fitment!

We're narrowing in on some decent options as well as taking scans of some brakes. I don't think 21s are going to be the initial launch sizes as we'll target 20s based on feedback from our initial survey.

One question I did have for the community is a brake question. Are there physical size or part number differences between the brakes on an X3M vs an X3M Competition model (or X4M variants)? I've seen mixed feedback on this from a variety of sources but we're trying to understand if multiple scans are needed of Competition vs standard.

Competition and Non-comp brakes are exactly the same.

The only change in part numbers would be for different colored calipers from the factory.

Can't wait to see these!

I mean I'm one of the only F97 owners in the Western Canada Area who actually mods their car but there's lots of G01 M40i owners if you send a set up

I am not 100% sure that is correct. I recently got myself some 20x10 rims for my 2022 X4MC. My installer verified with the actual manufacturer that said rims would fit my car. The installer did NOT mention that this was a competition model. Sure enough, the rims did not clear the calipers in front. We found another manufacturer and his rims did clear.
Having said that, I do travel up from SoCal to the Bay Area regularly and would volunteer my LCI F98 for a scan.

They are the same. Here is the PN for the front caliper in blue: 34-11-6-891-283. Same goes for the rotor: 34-10-6-880-072

Scroll down to the vehicle fitment and you will see under X3 and X4 that "M" (base model, non comp) and "M Competition" are both listed.

When I click on "Vehicle fitment" for that part number, I do NOT see 2022 X4M Comp listed. What am I missing??
However, I do see a 2021 X4MC listed as compatible. This must be an "LCI" thing.

The LCI is also when they introduced the other 2 caliper colors which likely means they changed the PN again. PN's get superseded all of the time. Here you can see they are all listed the same

You are probably right, but I (still) don't see where you "introduce the other 2 colors." Also, note 2023's are not showing same part for M and MC X4's. Very strange.

They are the same size . The manufacturer just wanted the sale . I'm sure the offsets were the same for both brands but the style makes the difference . I would be willing to bet that between BrockDM and myself , we have installed numerous style wheels on every vehicle we have owned to acquire this knowledge

Funny enough, in 2013 I think, I took my e46 m3 to you for a fitment test so you guys could take photos and post them on m3forum(RIP) and had some fun. Have you found an x3m yet? I'd be willing to spend another hour or so with you guys to do the same if you're still looking.

Edit: I'm local in Dublin

I believe they're still looking; I took my E46 M3 to them a long time ago as well and I wish I was closer otherwise would stop by. Here's the link they gave me:

Sorry for the delayed followup. We have a few volunteers on the list already (thank you!) but more are always better to have. We'll be bringing a car in for scans and then another in later for photoshoots of final product when we have it so please submit a response to the form if that sounds interesting and you're local.

Thanks again,

-Tom
