Question about axle seal leak.

So I had my oil changed and they told me I have a light axle seal leak on the left rear. I want to add some ATP AT-205 Re-Seal to the transmission fluid. Is it possible to do this on a 2017 X3 xdrive 28i from the engine bay?

  1. I'd never add stop leak, rather fix the leak by replacing the seal.
  2. Just so you know, the transmission is nowhere near the rear axle so don't know why you think adding re-seal to the trans would stop a leak at the rear axle.
  3. There's no means to add anything to the trans from the engine bay.
  4. Have a profession fix the leak before it ruins the rear diff from low fluid.

Thanks, exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. Appreciate it.

make sure you replace BOTH left and right seals... and get it done at a BMW specialized shop... refill with NEW diff fluid.
