Now that I'm over 3K on the odometer, I've been following the advice here about starting slowly and driving conservatively to see what sort of difference it made. I have only tried this over 4-5 tanks so far, but I'm reliably seeing just over 22mpg in conservative mode, vs. 19.6 in aggressive mode. Almost all my driving is city, as the highways locally have far too much traffic to drive a constant speed during the day. Less than 10% highway, I would guess.

While quite good for an SUV, I'm so jealous to not have a diesel option here in the States. Hope that changes over the next couple of years, so I can trade up at the end of my lease!

My average so far (28700 kms) is 8.5 lt /100 km . Mostly highway and country roads.

I'm averaging 16.9 mpg because I have a heavy foot and drive it like I stole it. 2200 fun miles on the odometer, mostly non-highway.

Last fill up I reached 1010 km or 630 miles
Combined highway and city commute 50-120km/h, 70 km each way.
The car (2.0d manual) has only done 4000km it's going to get even better I suppose
